Temple Beth Shalom
The master plan design envisions an expanded new home for Temple Beth Shalom. The congregation has experienced rapid and significant growth over the past decade, affecting all aspects of their program for worship, assembly, education and administration. Through careful analysis of their existing site, Finegold Alexander developed a vision to more than double their current 23,000 SF building with a major new expansion, preserving the recently renovated sanctuary. Parking has also been increased by more than 50% within very tight site constraints, preserving and enhancing the natural landscape and wooded site.
The design creates a new community court gathering space that unites the entire program within, and offers expansive views out to the wooded site. A three story wing is placed to take advantage of the sloped site, and creates a new Administration and Learning Center that addresses contemporary school programs with pod concepts. The temple is designed to achieve the maximum program in the smallest footprint. Sustainable design strategies such as green roofs, renewable energy sources and energy efficient systems are incorporated throughout.
