Principal and Director of Design at Finegold Alexander Architects, Tony Hsiao, AIA, LEED AP was recently interviewed by Gail Hulnick on the Brainwave Podcast! Breaking down his career, Gail and Tony discussed a multitude of topics including: his design evolution at Finegold Alexander, his passion for adaptive reuse, and featured project the Lucas! Located at 136 Shawmut Avenue of Boston’s historic South End, the Lucas underwent a transformation that breathed new life into the historic building structure. The approach proposed a striking steel and glass contemporary design rising out of the massive stone walls of the former church, while respecting the architectural and tectonic qualities of the original structure. The attached rectory was restored and renovated to become private residences with roof decks and contemporary amenities throughout.
