Last week, Finegold Alexander Principal Rebecca Berry, AIA, LEED AP, and Senior Associate Josephine Penta, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, had the unique opportunity to sit down with NBC Boston’s Matt Fortin to discuss our work at La Victoire at 25 Isabella Street. The article and video highlight the adaptive reuse transformation and explore the project’s opportunities and challenges with Principal-in-Charge Rebecca Berry and Project Manager Josephine Penta.
"The trick with these kinds of projects is that they are really three-dimensional puzzles. When you have new construction, you get to determine your layout… When you have a project like this, where you're working with existing fabric, you save as much as you can."
- Rebecca Berry, Finegold Alexander President and Principal
Finegold Alexander is designing an 18-unit residential development at 25 Isabella Street, the former Our Lady of Victories Church originally built in 1891in the Bay Village neighborhood of Boston. Nestled between Back Bay, the South End and the Theater District, Bay Village is Boston’s smallest neighborhood at just 6 blocks in size. The building is being developed by KEMS Corporation, a New England-based private development and construction firm known for its commitment to excellence and building working relationships with neighborhoods.
"It touches you a couple of ways. One of which is the building was empty for years. And so to be able to bring it back to life and have it used again is great. It's just a wonderful feeling."
- Josephine Penta, Finegold Alexander Senior Associate
