Finegold Alexander is excited to announce that Associate and Sustainability Strategist Lara Pfadt, AIA is officially a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), as determined by the Passive House Institute of the US (PHIUS). Way to go, Lara!
As Sustainability Strategist at Finegold Alexander, Lara brings deep expertise in environmentally responsible design to all of her project work, which includes decarbonization initiatives on college campuses; energy-efficient design for projects across all market sectors; and strategic interventions for historic properties. Lara is a passionate advocate for green building practices, and has led numerous staff development sessions here at Finegold Alexander on Passive House principles and other sustainable design topics. The PHIUS certification process involves months of rigorous study, and Lara has shared her progress and insights with Finegold Alexander colleagues every step of the way.
Passive house (German: Passivhaus) is a standard for designing and constructing an energy-efficient building. PHIUS buildings require little energy for space heating or cooling, which reduces the building's carbon footprint.
PHIUS created the Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC®) training program, the CPHC professional credential, and the accompanying continuing education program in 2008. PHIUS’s flagship training is the industry leader, and the only passive house consultant training geared to North American climate and market conditions. Students learn passive building principles, receive hands-on training in modeling using WUFI Passive, and learn to design and execute commercial, residential, and retrofit projects. You can read more about PHIUS, here: https://www.phius.org/home-page
We are proud of Lara for this important achievement and look forward to the sustainable design expertise that Lara as a CPHC will bring to her projects and clients. Bravo, Lara!
