Finegold Alexander’s Principal and Vice President Ellen K. Anselone, AIA, LEED AP BD+C spoke with Daily Commercial News, an outlet reporting on Eastern Canada’s construction industry, regarding our 260 High Park Alhambra Church-condominium adaptive reuse project. As the design lead for the 15-loft residence church conversion portion of the project, Ellen discusses the unique circumstances, challenges and opportunities faced during the design of the project. Turner Fleischer Architects are the designers of the addition and architects-of-record for the project.

Finegold Alexander was chosen for the role due to Medallion Capital Group’s strong impression of the firm as a result of The Lucas and the firm’s success with converting historic church buildings into luxury condominiums.

Located in Toronto, 260 High Park had its own unique requirements and regulations to follow, particularly with the historic preservation requirements which limited the exterior work as well as the issue of creating condominium units while not taking the roof off. Fortunately, due to Ellen and her team’s creative talents, they were able to navigate through the challenges and develop a plan that is unique, elegant and that will enrich Toronto’s urban environment.
