On a recent autumn day in early November, a team of dedicated volunteers from Finegold Alexander Architects came together for a morning of service, joining forces with The Greenway Conservancy to prepare the Rose Kennedy Greenway for the winter season. With blue skies overhead and warm temperatures, the Finegold Alexander team set out with rakes, gloves, and a shared commitment to giving back to their community.
Finegold Alexander’s volunteers — Kate Theodoridis, Megan Carriere, Adam Sitterly, Juanita Libreros, Megan Brown, Vanlim Ma, Utsav Kalathiya, Connor Byrne, and organizer Mary McCarthy — worked side-by-side with Greenway Conservancy staff to tackle essential fall tasks. Their efforts included raking up leaves and debris, weeding flower beds, edging pathways, and general garden clean-up, all to ensure that the beloved Boston park would stay healthy and vibrant for the next growing season.
Reflecting on the day’s success, Finegold Alexander Associate Mary McCarthy commented,
"What a difference a week makes! I am especially thankful that our Greenway volunteering event was last week and not today. We definitely would have needed warmer gardening gloves! Thank you all for the time you gave to support The Greenway."
This year marks yet another in Finegold Alexander’s solid history of participating in Greenway clean-ups, a reflection of the firm’s dedication to preserving and enhancing Boston’s civic spaces and contributing to a greener planet. The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a cherished public space that hosts activities and events year-round, from local food trucks and art installations to seasonal festivities. This winter, the park will continue to engage the community with programs like holiday markets, winter light displays, and a clothing drive for unhoused individuals in the area.
Avery Morgan, Volunteer Manager from the Greenway Conservancy expressed heartfelt gratitude for the team’s work, saying,
"Thank you for volunteering with us on the Greenway this morning! The Greenway Conservancy is a non-profit, and all volunteer efforts are critical and deeply appreciated. Our team was so thankful for all of your help clearing out the plant crowns, raking out the leaves for mulching on the lawns, pruning our precious Mountain Mint, and edging along the pathway! We were lucky enough to have a beautiful day for it, and it was great to see everyone with their sunscreen."
Finegold Alexander’s commitment to volunteerism and community enrichment stands as a testament to the firm’s values. By helping to maintain the Greenway, the team at Finegold Alexander has once again shown their dedication to preserving Boston’s public spaces, making them more enjoyable for all.
