Project team leaders Jim Alexander, FAIA, LEED AP, Ellen Anselone, AIA, LEED, Rob Law, AIA, NCARB and Tony Hsiao, AIA, LEED AP led colleagues on a tour through the in-progress modernization, renovation and addition to the historic Lower Basin Barracks for the Massachusetts State Police. Finegold Alexander has been involved with this DCAMM project since 2014, making it a highly significant project for the firm.
Through the historic preservation of and new addition to the Charles River Basin Lower Locks Gatehouse Building, the team is modernizing the existing historic structure and creating much-needed additional space for the Massachusetts State Police, who have occupied this facility since the early 1900’s. The project’s goals are to support the State Police with current and future mission requirements, preserve the historic fabric of the original building, design a contemporary new addition that complements the historic building and transform the site back to an open, public green space that serves as a gateway to the Esplanade.
Completion of the project is expected before the end of the year! For more information about the Lower Basin Barracks and renderings of the project design, please click here.
