Architectural Record recently published the article “American Universities Target Climate Neutrality” by Katharine Logan and featured Finegold Alexander sustainability team, Lara Pfadt and Rebecca Berry. The article includes examples from several universities working towards climate neutrality, including one of our current projects at Wellesley College, Severance Hall. Katharine examines various ways these colleges are promoting climate neutrality and provides an in-depth explanation as to how they combat various tiers of operational emissions. Lara and Rebecca comment on the challenges many of the colleges face when attempting to reduce emission, and how architects can impact their Scope 1 emissions, an organization’s direct greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions.
