As the door on 2024 closes, we look forward to all 2025 has to offer. Before we head into the new year, let’s reflect on the accomplishments, new projects, faces, and developments this year had to offer.

New Members and Promotions

The Firm welcomed seven new members to our team, bringing the firm total to 42 members: Adam Sitterly, Idael Cárdenas, Vanlim Ma, Zach Geimer, Ron Lamarre, Maddie Laberge, and Madison Mercado. Promotions were celebrated for Christopher Lane as a new Board of Directors member, Clair Colburn to Associate Principal, and Josie Catino to Senior Associate.

Watching Interns Grow

Our internship program welcomed Xintong Guo and Juanita Libreros to our North End office, continuing our devotion to training the next generation of architects.

Under Construction

This year, we broke ground and continued construction on Gladstone Elementary School in Cranston, Rhode Island; 45 East Central Street; Tufts University Eaton Hall; 25 Isabella Street; 200 Clarendon Street; the Advanced Math and Science Academy New Academic Building in Marlborough, MA; and 440 Granite Avenue.

Our team attended the beam signing ceremony for the Gladstone Elementary School project which featured beam signing with students, community members, and partnering firms on the project. Learn more here!

Celebrating Completed Projects

The trucks, rubble, and scaffolding were finally taken down on four projects that were completed this year. The Newbury of Brookline, a new senior living community, opened its door to residents. Cambridge City Hall underwent a historic restoration of its façade, frames, clock tower, and plaque above the entryway. Cranston High School West welcomed students back to a newly renovated space. The First Church of Christ, Scientist opened for services after the eight-year-long historic preservation and restoration project.

In the News

Finegold Alexander Architects were featured online and in the news many times this year. We saw Principal Ellen Anselone on NBC10 Boston talking about the adaptive reuse of historic Downtown Crossing buildings into The Godfrey Hotel. Principal Rebecca Berry and Senior Associate Josephine Penta were on NBC10 Boston to explain the transformation of the church at 25 Isabella Street into 18 residential units. Principal Regan Shields Ives was featured in Boston Magazine and on WCVB’s The Chronicle to share the accomplishments The First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Recognition and Awards

Throughout the year, the Firm was recognized for our work in across the Commonwealth, including the Just Label, Boston Preservation Alliance Awards and Preservation Massachusetts Awards for The First Church of Christ, Scientist and the Lower Basin Barracks, and LEED Gold certifications for the Lower Basin Barracks and Boston University’s Kilachand Hall.

We also received SMPS Boston awards for our social media and sustainability communication, the Innovative Solutions for Universal Design Certification for Temple Beth Tzedek, and the 2024 AIA New England Emerging Professional Friendly Firm award. We’re honored to have received each award and will continue to showcase exceptional work and innovation in our projects.

New Projects Lie Ahead

This year, we embarked on 12 new projects across all sectors, committing to continued excellence in architecture, sustainability, and design.

As we head into 2025, we take all the accomplishments, and the lessons learned, from 2024 to make us better architects for the future developments, schools, and historical buildings of the future. Thank you to all the consultants, firms, and partners that helped us push the boundaries of design this year. Here’s to an even better 2025!
