Finegold Alexander Architects has completed design and begun construction for the expansion of the Stoughton Public Library. The existing building was 22,000 square feet and did not meet the demands for accessibility, technology and computer access, community and meeting spaces. A new 7,700 square foot addition will expand the second floor and create an addition that extends over the new front facade. All systems will be updated or replaced with energy efficient components and the design will ensure that the public building is completely accessible and will increase existing parking spaces; offer a variety of meeting spaces for library programs and community use; improve the Children’s Area to offer an enclosed craft and story hour space, provide a separate enclosed space for young adults, and expand the current two-story building with security and technology that will allow the library to manage with its current staff. Project completion is expected for Fall 2018.
