Finegold Alexander designed the first extensive renovation of the Hatch Memorial Shell, located on Boston’s Charles River Esplanade, for its 50th anniversary. The work included modernization of the stage, major acoustical upgrades, new lighting, rehabilitation of the exterior and shell, renovation of below-grade dressing and rehearsal rooms, and provision for universal access. For the interior of the shell, the teak paneling was removed, refinished and reinstalled. For its exterior, a triple waterproofing system was installed. Its beauty can be seen on national TV on July 4th.
