FINEGOLD ALEXANDER ARCHITECTS AWARDED INTERNATIONAL PROJECT – 260 HIGH PARK IN TORONTO
Adaptive Use Of Historic Church To Condominiums

BOSTON, MASSACUSETTS – May 8, 2019 – Finegold Alexander Architects proudly announces they have been selected to design the renovation of Toronto’s High Park Alhambra United Church into loft-style residences. This is especially significant as this is the first international project since the firm’s new leadership reorganization two years ago.

The historic church is in one of Toronto’s sought after and established neighborhoods. Originally built in 1908 by renowned architectural firm Burke, Horwood & White, it became, and still is, an area that is landmarked for its unique neo-gothic design. The church has been carefully restored, and today, a four-story condominium has been incorporated into the original building’s design. Finegold Alexander will design the residences within church section of 260 High Park.

Upon completion, the project will have 70 condominium suites including townhomes, and the church loft residences. “We are thrilled to have Finegold Alexander Architects to complete the last phase on the renovation of the church residences,” said Mike Giamou, principal of Medallion Capital Group, the developer of 260 High Park. “Our team is focused on maintaining the integrity and design of the Church as a vibrant design element in the condominiums, and we are confident that Finegold Alexander was the right choice to help us achieve those goals.”

In total there will be 15 Church Loft Residences offering one-of-a-kind residences. The units were creatively designed to retain as much of the exiting building fabric as possible by taking full advantage of the large windows, which feature original stained glass, and the soaring interior spaces. The tops of the towers will be converted to create private, outdoor balcony space. At the street level, original stairs and entries are retained and will be converted to private terraces. The newly designed Church Lofts will range from 837 SF one-bedrooms to 3,011 SF 3-bedroom residences.

“Finegold Alexander, has designed similar projects in recent years, and our deep knowledge with this building type enables us to truly infuse the historic character of the former church into the building’s new life,” said Ellen Anselone, Principal, Finegold Alexander Architects.

260 High Park is exquisite in every detail, with luxurious amenities and top-of-the line finishes offering residents a sophisticated lifestyle in an architecturally inviting show-stopping setting.
